BTCC title battle heads to Donington Park this weekend

Monday, October 04 2021

The penultimate event of the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place at Donington Park this weekend (9-10 October). Tickets are available at a discounted advance rate until 4pm on Thursday (7 October), with FREE entry for under-13s. For more information and to book now,  click here.

Infiniti's reigning champion Ash Sutton is the man to beat heading into the triple-header of races at Donington, but remarkably he's only ever won one race at Donington Park in his six year BTCC stint, so could that open the door for his rivals?

Nearest contenders Tom Ingram (Hyundai), Jake Hill (Ford) and Colin Turkington (BMW) will certainly hope so, with the trio separated by just four points at the moment. BTCC contests at Donington are renowned for their drama, but when the championship is this close to the conclusion, expect fireworks as drivers battle to remain in contention.

Josh Cook (Honda) is another driver in with a title chance, and he tends to go well at Donington with regular podiums in recent years. More of that this weekend should keep him in with a shout heading to the Brands Hatch finale.

As well as the title battles, the event is also the local round for Leicester's Stephen Jelley (BMW), Bruntingthorpe's Sam Smelt (Toyota), Melton Mowbray's Andy Neate (Ford), Worksop's Sam Osborne (Ford) and Rick Parfitt (Nottingham).

In addition to the three BTCC races on Sunday, there's a full support race package to enjoy across both days from some of the best spectator viewing in the country, including British F4, Ginetta Juniors and GT4 Supercup, MINI Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

How we continue to keep you safe: COVID-19

Whilst our motor racing circuits are outdoor venues, with spectators dispersed over a very wide area, we recognise the importance of maintaining sensible precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. We have therefore retained many of the protocols that have been in place since we welcomed spectators back again in May.  Click here for details.

Sunday tickets are available from £32 in advance with a discount for 13-15-year-olds and FREE entry for under-13s. For more information and to book now, click here.
