Donington Park to celebrate Jim Clark this weekend

Tuesday, April 03 2018

This Saturday (7 April) marks exactly 50 years since the passing of the legendary Jim Clark, and the Scotsman's life and racing successes will be remembered at the Historic Sports Car Club event this weekend at Donington Park.

A minute's silence will be held on the grid at 1pm on Saturday, with drivers, team members, marshals, officials and spectators are invited to go onto the grid to show their respect for one of Britain's most iconic racing drivers.

A selection of cars similar to those raced by Clark during his career will be placed on the grid, while bag pipes will lead into the minute's silence. The piper will be Angus MacCurrach who went to the same school as Clark, and has a keen interest in historic racing.

HSCC CEO Grahame White commented: "We hope everyone at Donington on the day will come to the grid to honour the memory of Jim Clark. The invitation most certainly includes the marshals and spectators as well as everyone involved in the racing."

In addition to the Clark celebrations, the two day event will also feature racing from 12 championships including a huge variety of historic tin tops, sports cars, prototypes and single seaters, including the Derek Bell Trophy for roaring Formula 5000 and Formula 2 single seaters built between 1967 and 1979.

Tickets for the Historic Sports Car Club at Donington Park this weekend are available in advance priced at £12 per day, £8 for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry for children under 13. For more information click here.
