Donington WorldSBK July date confirmed – tickets on sale now

Thursday, November 21 2019

Donington Park will again host a mid-summer visit of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship after series organiser Dorna confirmed 3-5 July as the date for the only UK round of 2020.

Tickets are now on sale, with full weekend tickets available at early bird prices until 31 December, offering a £5 saving on adult prices, while children under-13 go free. Camping, grandstand, pit walk and Starkey's Parking tickets are also on sale.

The 2020 round will be a chance to see reigning five-time champion Jonathan Rea on track alongside the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Champion Scott Redding, who set the domestic series alight in his debut season.

Reigning five-time champion Rea did the treble at Donington in 2019, in a round that saw the championship swing wildly in his direction after the early season domination of Alvaro Bautista. Rea's treble, along with a difficult weekend for Bautista, meant he left the UK round as the championship leader, and it was a lead he wouldn't relinquish as he charged to his fifth successive title.

Rea remains with the all-conquering Kawasaki team for 2020, where he will be joined by new teammate Alex Lowes. The Derby rider will be hoping to give Rea a stern challenge now that he has an established front-running bike for the first time in his WorldSBK career.

Lowes has replaced fellow Donington local Leon Haslam, with Haslam moving to the rejuvenated Honda factory team where he will join Bautista, who has jumped ship from Ducati after a sole season with the Italian marque.

Taking Bautista's place at Ducati is reigning Bennetts British Superbike champion Redding. The former MotoGP ace lit up the British paddocks this season with his awesome on-track performances and big personality, and wrapped up the title at Brands Hatch. He returns to the world stage with big expectations, and has already impressed in winter testing. Redding won every BSB round at Donington in 2019, so should be a force to be reckoned with at the UK WorldSBK event!

Other Brits to look out for include Bautista's teammate Chaz Davies, Donington specialist Tom Sykes at BMW and Leon Camier, who has joined the BARNI Racing Ducati squad.

Visitors to the 2020 round at Donington will again enjoy three races from the world's premier superbike category across the weekend, as well as a full international support race package.

The family-friendly off-track entertainment will return as well, with the free of charge Paddock Show running through the event, with fun and games, rider appearances and prizes, as well as a whole range of activities around the venue.
