BRSCC set for final Donington Park visit of 2019

Monday, October 14 2019

The British Racing and Sports Car Club visit Donington Park this weekend (19-20 October) for a late autumn bout on the National circuit. Competitors will take to Donington for one final time of 2019 with plenty of championships and series set to be concluded this Sunday.

On the racing bill this weekend is the Mazda MX-5 Supercup, a championship catering for the popular sports car. This highly competitive series features busy grids with wheel-to-wheel contests in every round.

There'll be plenty of hot hatchback action within the Civic Cup with the one make series permitting any production Honda Civic Type R model from 1990 to 2013. With affordable used prices, the championship is now dominated by the 2-litre EP3 model with engines remapped to produce 230hp.

Competitors of the BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship will also take on the challenges of the East Midlands circuit with plenty of examples of the popular Italian marque set to battle it out. Entry level action can be found within the Twin Spark Cup, a standard production class permitting Alfa Romeos that use the 2000cc 16v engine. The mid-tier Power Trophy class caters for more powerful, modified vehicles with the top level modified class featuring slick tyres and sequential gearboxes.

Also racing includes the BMW Compact Cup with the BMW E36 318Ti the model of choice for the series. Frequently bringing capacity grids to each round these affordable racers provide the perfect arena for drivers to perfect their race craft and enjoy close racing.

Donington Park will also receive a taste of mini-endurance racing with the BRSCC ClubSport trophy set to feature 45-minute battles with cars shared between one or two drivers. Five classes based upon power-to-weight ratios cater for a diverse spread of vehicles including machines from Citroen C1s to Porsche Boxsters.

This weekend also marks the final round of the TCR UK/Dunlop Tyres Touring Car Trophy Championship with 2.0-litre touring car machines set to take on the undulations of the National circuit.

Other competing series include the Toyo Tires Porsche Championship, OSS Championship and the Track Attack Nippon Challenge/Tricolore Trophy/Multi Marques.
