2021 British Superbike Championship calendar unveiled

Friday, October 16 2020

The 2021 British Superbike Championship provisional calendar has been announced today (Friday) following approval by its governing body, the MCRCB, with eight of the series' eleven rounds set to take place at MSV circuits.

The 2021 calendar will follow a new format, with a schedule of UK tests ahead of a later start to the season, which launches at Oulton Park (May 1-3) in Cheshire for the first time in championship history.

The series then returns to Thruxton (June 4-6) after an absence on the 2020 line-up, before heading to Norfolk for the annual visit to Snetterton (June 18-20).

The third event of the season will be the trip north of the border to Knockhill (July 9-11), as the Scottish circuit returns to the 2021 schedule, before the summer event at Brands Hatch (July 23-25) on the first visit to the Grand Prix circuit.

The championship then visits Donington Park (August 6-8) for the first of its two rounds, with the National layout hosting the opening visit to the circuit, before moving on to the annual 'Party in the Park' as BSB returns to Cadwell Park (August 20-22) for their showcase event of the season.

There is then a small break in the calendar at the end of August before the next event at Silverstone (September 10-12), as the National circuit gets set for the return of Superbike action ahead of the second visit to Oulton Park (September 17-19).

The penultimate round will be on the Donington Park GP circuit (October 1-3) before the season reaches its traditional finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit (October 15-17) in October.

British Superbike Championship Series Director Stuart Higgs commented: "We have very carefully considered the composition of the 2021 British Superbike Championship following this year's condensed campaign. Notably the season will start a little later than previous years, with April set aside for teams to prepare across a series of tests at UK circuits. Regrettably we have taken the decision to leave Assen off the calendar given the risk of ongoing travel disruption.

"Everyone at Bennetts BSB has worked extremely hard to deliver a fantastic championship this year despite the incredibly difficult circumstances we've found ourselves in. We're all looking forward to another great season in 2021 and in particular the return of spectators to all of our events, as they have been very sorely missed!"
