Rodin Cars sets unofficial Donington record

Wednesday, November 10 2021

The Donington Park National circuit lap record was unofficially beaten recently, when the Rodin Cars FZED single-seater lapped the track in 56.83s in the hands of Oliver Webb.

The sub-minute lap time beats the previous best-known effort around the East Midlands circuit by nearly four tenths of a second, which was set by a V10 Benetton B197 Formula 1 car in the BOSS GP series.  The Rodin Cars FZED is designed to be eligible in BOSS GP competition against F1 and IndyCar machinery as well as other high-powered single-seaters.

Rodin Cars European Headquarters is located at Donington Park, and the car has been tested extensively at the circuit in recent months, and set the record-beating time in their most recent run.

The Cosworth V8-powered single-seater has mainly operated on the Grand Prix layout at Donington, but switched to the National layout for just a handful of laps at the end of October. The car has been run by leading GB3 in partnership with the BRDC team Hitech GP, and has been finely tuned by drivers including W Series double champion Jamie Chadwick and F2 front-runner Liam Lawson.

Rodin founder and CEO David Dicker commented: "It's [Rodin FZED] perfect for the gentleman racer who wants the thrill of top-end motorsport but without the expense of an historic race car. This lap time at Donington Park confirms how competitive it is."
