Varrone and Chris Dittmann Racing take British F3 iRacing titles

Sunday, June 14 2020

Chris Dittmann Racing's Nico Varrone became the inaugural British F3 iRacing Championship with a commanding drive in the first of this evening's (Sunday) two races on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit.

Varrone produced a stellar drive to pull away from his rivals in the opening race whilst the rest of his rivals fought for the podium positions behind him. Douglas Motorsport's Harrison Scott or Lanan Racing's Piers Prior could have taken the fight into race two with second position, but it wasn't to be as Ulysse De Pauw claimed the second step on the podium.

Scott finished third, just ahead of independent Jake Dalton with Kieran Vernon completing the top-five and a strong race one points haul for Chris Dittmann Racing. Prior wound up seventh, just ahead of his team-mate Josh Mason.

Race two was a more frenetic affair as the race started from a full reverse grid. Carlin's 2017 F3 champion Enam Ahmed launched into a lead early on whilst a number of the race one frontrunners, including Prior, Dalton and De Pauw ran off the track whilst charging through the pack.

Callan O'Keefe settled into second position as the race moved to its middle phase, whilst Scott charged through to third to secure third in the championship despite continuing to recover from a broken wrist, missing out to Prior only on countback.

Kieran Vernon finished fourth just ahead of Varrone in fourth and fifth to seal the team's championship for Chris Dittmann Racing.
